Richard McElroy is the CEO of D‑Pace, bringing more than 30 years of entrepreneurial leadership and business‑building experience across the high‑tech and software industries. He has a proven track record of scaling companies, driving innovation, and translating complex technologies into commercially successful solutions with global impact. At D‑Pace, Richard leads the company’s strategic direction, with a focus on accelerating growth, advancing commercialization, and expanding its position as a global leader in ion source technologies and particle accelerator systems. He is committed to transforming advanced scientific innovation into practical, market‑ready solutions that deliver value to customers worldwide.
Prior to joining D‑Pace, Richard was an equity partner and President & COO of Symmetrics Business Intelligence Solutions. He played a central role in building the company from inception and successfully evolving it from a consulting services firm into a global business intelligence software provider. This transformation ultimately led to Symmetrics’ acquisition by Calabrio Inc. in 2017. Following the acquisition, Richard spent seven years at Calabrio in senior leadership roles, including General Manager of Canadian Operations, Vice President of Global Innovation, and Senior Vice President of Global Product Management & Strategy. In these positions, he led international teams across product management, design, marketing, and innovation, helping shape the company’s product vision, expand its global footprint, and drive continued growth.
Beyond his executive leadership, Richard is passionate about entrepreneurship and talent development. He has served on the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Program Advisory Council at Wilfrid Laurier University, where he mentored students, supported emerging founders, and contributed to developing the next generation of innovators.
