High Power Scintillator

The D-Pace High Power Scintillator provides real-time visualization of ion beams for beam tuning, alignment, and scanning applications. The system uses an insertable, water-cooled scintillation head with an alumina coating that emits light when struck by the ion beam. A radiation-resistant camera views the scintillation surface and provides a live video signal to the operator for immediate feedback on beam shape, position, and relative intensity.

When not in use, the scintillation head can be retracted from the beamline, and a protective viewport shutter can be closed to shield the optical path from metallic vapours. The water-cooled head is rated for up to 2 kW of beam power and can image beams over a 100 mm × 100 mm area.
